Getting ready for Christmas

While Christmas shopping, Grammie Sharon found some princess jammies and couldn't resist. The girls spent the night casting spells on anything and everything.

I was making our carrot pudding on Christmas Eve and was using the salad shooter. Apparently it hurt Maddi's ears.
The girls are WAY too helpful sometimes! That might explain all the clutter!

"The 12 Days of Christmas"

A couple weeks ago, we got home and found a gift on our doorstep. We quickly learned that someone had decided to do the "twelve days of Christmas" for us. I've never had someone do something so wonderful anonymously so this was a BIG deal for us! I took pictures of almost all of it, but unfortulately some of the gifts didn't make it long enough for a picture. The cookies were most delicious! So I'm not sure who did this, but it made our Christmas so special and taught us all so much about the joy of giving. I hope we are able to give another family a Christmas this special next year because it sure was fun!

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve festivities were complete with matching Pajamas, goodies, and games. My Mother-in-law is the best at picking out Christmas jammies. We had so much fun! Kylie and I fixed Santa a plate of goodies and a cup of milk right before bed, and then we read the Christmas story in bed and talked about Christ and the wonderful gift he gave each of us. What a perfect Christmas!

Kylie's Christmas

Kylie made Christmas wonderful. Childlike wonder and amazement sparks a feeling in me that I haven't experienced since I was a little girl. Kylie slept in our bed for the last two hours of the night and woke up with a sweet little voice saying "Mommy...it's Christmas" Then we all marched downstairs and she walked right past everything into the kitchen to see if Santa ate his cookies. Once she got over that excitement, she came in and saw this doll house. Santa's elves slacked this year because they couldn't think of anything to give Kylie. So...on the 23rd they stayed up till 1:30am painting this doll house for her. She ended up LOVING it and said "Mom, I must have been on the good list this year!" She was so cute!

I absolutely loved barbies when I was little and was hoping she would too. YAY for me, because she was entertained all day by them...I forsee a little more blogging time in my future:) All she wanted for Christmas was clothes...surprise surprise.
Half way into the morning, Santa showed up to see if Kylie liked her presents. Kylie is so smart because after a while she said to him..."Santa...are you my uncle Homie? You have a wedding ring just like him" I guess Santa should have remembered to wear his white gloves. Needless to say, when Tyrel and Danielle showed up 20 minutes later, his ring was in his pocket. ha ha!

When Kylie opened this game she was so excited. She said. "I always wanted this game! Now I have one just like Kaelyn!"

Maddi's Christmas

"LOOK WHAT SANTA LEFT MADDI" I ended up not being able to finish Madison's stocking in time, so she got to use the stocking my mom made for me when I was just a little girl. So special! She would pull out one thing at a time and just examine it for a few minutes before tossing it aside and reaching for a new item.

Madison seemed to be kind of bored with the whole "Christmas thing" She is obsessed with Santa, and when he showed up, she walked right up to him and waved saying "HI SANTA!!" But...as soon as he opened his mouth and talked to her, she was holding on to me for dear life and shaking in fear. It was actually pretty funny.

She tried on her clothes and then decided that being naked was much more fun for her...and the worst part...I let her get away with it. So....bear with me for the next picture;)
It wasn't till she opened her baby doll that she really got excited. I don't think she's let go of it since Christmas. Maddi LOVES babies so I got my desired reaction for sure!

Baby doll came with her very own rocking chair, but apparently Madison thought it was hers. She sat down with baby and started rocking and trying to sing "Oh Holy Night" (her favorite bedtime song)
I think having an overly excited older sister to feed off of was the key to Madison's Christmas. She sure had a fun day.

Red Faced Christmas

Terrence's sister Elyse and Brother Tyrel along with his wife Danielle saw a toy in the store and somehow decided it would be perfect for the girls. They made us sit behind Kylie and Madison while they opened it in an effort to capture our reactions on film. How does one keep track of 50 plastic balls? Well...it's really isn't bad (except that it takes up our entire floor space in our front room).

Terrence and Tyrel immediately went outside to try to blow it up using our mini air compresser, but it seemed to be too cold to make much progress. (we got a blizzard Christmas Day that dumped 10+ inches on us)

So....they decided to bring it inside and take turns blowing it up. They finally got it fully inflated 15 minutes and two red faces later.

It actually wasn't too bad of a gift. The girls stayed entertained for quite a while while the grownup's played games in the other room. I'm just hoping to live somewhere else in the spring so we can have it set up on our back patio then:)

Of course after all the excitement of Christmas, a tickle war ensued. Tyrel is such an easy target and so funny to watch. He can beat Terrence wrestling any day, but if you bring out the tickles....he doesn't stand a chance. Kylie had him whooped!!!

(lots of) Christmas's Past

These first two pictures are of Terrence. I'm not sure how old he was, but the second one is special because that is his uncle Kent and aunt Lola. And...his Grandpa Baker is in the back. Terrence was named after his grandpa and from what I hear....has a lot in common with him.
I pulled this picture of me out because I could swear it's really Madison. I think we really look a lot alike. I was probably 20 months old in this picture and Maddi is 23 months right now.

This is a fabulous scrapbook page that my Mom did for me when I was little. My mom made us matching outfits to go with our cabbage patch dolls. And I love this picture of Trista and I with Santa because Trista looks so cute with her little fro!

This picture is dedicated to Monica, Luke, and Jaycie. We used to dress up for 4-H and do family Christmas parties and things. We had really cool elf outfits...including latex elf shoes! The Middle picture has Monica, and I in it. I think Santa was Kobi Erni that time!

My junior year in high school, I was just having a really crappy Christmas day (more of an attitude thing I'm sure since my parents told me I couldn't go to Terrence's house that day) Well...I was doing the Christmas breakfast dishes when I suddenly hear jingle bells. I walked into the front room and Santa Clause is standing there! I seriously didn't know who it was at first but he had a big bag full of gifts just for me. That was probably the biggest and best surprise Terrence has ever given me....and I learned that year that Santa is a pretty great kisser;)
This is Terrence and I along with Jackie and Todd. We rode around on Terrence's family property on the 4-wheelers and rode the Tabogan. We flipped and rolled and probably almost killed ourselves, but MAN oh MAN was it fun!!!

Terrence came to Denver our senior year to spend New Years eve with me and my family. This is a picture of our New Years kiss and our sparkling cider. (we had to G rate the kiss in front of the siblings) And...also this is the year we decided to give one another ONLY stockings for Christmas. So...Terrence got all domestic and sewed this gigantic stocking that both of us could fit inside and filled it to the top. What a smart aleck!!!

This is Kylie when she was 14 months old. The beginning of the best Christmas's! I love having kids at Christmas time!Last but not least....this is our Christmas in Louisiana. Don't be alarmed by my "bigness" This picture was taken ten days before I gave birth to Madison.

"Let it Snow"

Logan got it's first snowfall of the season last night. So...after a yummy breakfast of German pancakes and bacon, we bundled the kids up and went to Mt. Logan park to go sledding before the snow melted.
Terrence and I rolled giant snowballs and pushed them down the hill. (mine won the race) ha ha!
I was wearing Terrence's insulated coveralls and my coat. Then...half way through the sledding experience, Kylie asked me to hold her hat, so I stuffed it in my coat. She said..."Mom, that's silly...you look pregnant!" Good thing all the extra padding was my excuse;)
Maddi decided to clobber Terrence with some snowballs as we were getting back into the van. That girl has a good arm!
When we were all done, Kylie took off her snowsuit and I found a shocking surprise. She had decided to wear a skirt to go sledding! Guess I should double check things like that? No wonder she got so cold. Thankgoodness we had hot candycane cocoa waiting in the van for us!
